Pictures

These are just some cute pictures I wanted to share. No real reason.. Well cuteness is a reason right?? Enjoy!

Dallin being a ham!

Dallin is a huge fan of pancakes, waffles, and whipped cream. He got a little carried away before we got him a fork!

Elise showing of her 3 teeth. Although her second front tooth just broke through a few days ago.
This is an example of Elise letting me know she wants to go down for her nap. She will honestly just go over and wait at the gate for me to take her up.

Elise is really trying to walk. Well at least some days she tries. She can do about 2 steps so far. (Dallin took this picture)
Daddy and Elise ready for church

Dallin has a Lightening McQueen play tent and Elise LOVES to go inside to play.

Merry Christmas!

My camera is acting up (again! guess I should have asked for a new one for Christmas) so I don't have any Christmas pictures yet, but I did have these cute pictures of the kids in their Christmas outfits that my mom bought them.
Elise has been blessed by SO many cute outfits thanks to grandparents and Sarah. So she ended up with several Christmas dresses. It is so fun to put in her in big frilly dresses each week for church. I love it! This one is that Sarah let us borrow. Thanks Sarah!

Fun in the Snow

We don't get out in the snow much since Elise is small and Dallin still needs help, but my dad came over last week and we had some time to have fun, so we took the kids out. We have the perfect hill in our backyard for his snow disc. I wasn't sure what Elise would think about going down the hill with me, but she loved it! And Dallin could have played out there all day if we let him. Suited up and ready to play!

She wasn't happy before but I wish I could have gotten a picture after. She had a huge smile on her face!

The grinch that stole my mantle

This was my mantle before: And this was my mantle after Dallin was disobedient for like the 5 time in a row, Jon was working REALLY late, Elise was hungry and tired, and my visiting teacher were coming over in 2 minutes:
My first instict was to kill him of course, but I tried to remain calm. I put him in time out and started to clean up the mess. Of course while the vacuum was on my visiting teachers were freezing outside ringing my doorbell 4 times. So it was off to bed for Dallin; I needed a break. Nothing is better than visiting teachers to come and visit with a Christmas message after that. I REALLY needed that.

My Adorable Kids

I just love my kids! They are so fun and cute! Jon reminds me every now and then that I truly forget how old Elise is. I can't believe she is 10 months! She is just so darn cute! She can say "Uh-Oh" and when she sees Daddy getting ready to leave she starts waving and saying "BaBa". She loves to give kisses, especially to Dallin. She loves her grandparents a lot too. She has been really good about leaving the Christmas stuff alone. Which I greatly appreciate. She loves food. She is the best eater. She is so cute when she holds her bottle. And she LOVES whole milk already. If she finds Dallins cup she will empty it. She is a girl who know what she wants. When she is ready for bed she will crawl up the stairs. She doesn't need to be rocked. You just give her kisses and lay her down, turn the mobile on and she is good for the night. Sure is refreshing after a baby who required to be rocked for like an hour. She truly is the best baby in every way. I love her so much!

And Dallin is my little helper. He loves to help cook, clean, bake, anything that I may be doing he wants to be "helping" with. He loves to do crafts. I have been trying to do at least one craft each week with him and he LOVES it. He helps me make bread every week too and making dinner is something he looks forward to. He has always loved to do dishes, but he has started to set the table for me. At first it wasn't going too great. But after the first week, he got it done really well. I am so proud of him. As you can see in the picture he put all the silverware on the napkins with the fork and knife in the same place for everyone and he didn't give himself a knife. This is a bonus since I had to convince him for a week that he didn't need one. And he is pretty much potty trained. Which I LOVE. He is really excited for Christmas. He is so sweet. Thanks to our frugalness, we don't have cable so all he watches is PBS. Which doesn't have commercials. So...for Christmas he really has to think hard for his Christmas list to Santa. I love that he has to come up with his own ideas instead of whatever commercial was just on TV. So he asked for a remote control car and a train set. When it snowed last week he asked me, "So now is it Christmas?" It is very confusing. I think our next craft will be a paper chain.

Let it snow!

We finally got our first big snowfall last week. It was fun to watch the snow come down all day long. Not so fun for Jon to drive in it. It took him 2 hours to get home from work that night. But, it is so fun to have a white Christmas. In Vegas that never happened, except for the years that we went to the mountains and got snow and brought it down.

A night out on the town

On Saturday, Jon and I went to his company's' Christmas party. It was downtown at the KC convention center. Being a black tie optional party, we got dressed up and had grandma and grandpa babysit. It was a lot of fun going to a formal party together. I don't think we had done something like this since Jon's Senior Design Award Dinner at UNLV. So sad... Anyway, we got there just in time for the last 15 minutes of cocktails and appetizers, which was fine with us. We all had assigned tables so we went into the ballroom and sat at our table. The tables were very formal (thank you etiquette night with Sis. Obermiller last week for the refresher course!) We had great conversation with Jon's boss and wife and also two other couples. They served a really fancy salad and bread. Then for the main meal they served an amazing steak filet, chicken breast, mashed potatoes, and veggies. They didn't skimp at all on the portions either. For dessert they had raspberry cheesecake. It was delicious! It was the perfect meal right before fast Sunday! They gave out door prizes and awards for people who had worked there for 5, 10, 15...years all the way up to 50 years! Can you imagine working at one place for 50 years! Amazing! Anyway, we left before the cocktails set in too much on the partiers. They started doing the electric slide and karaoke in their formal wear??!! No thanks!! We had so much fun together. It was a wonderful night, thanks Jon!

Potty Training, 5K, and Thanksgiving

I haven't blogged about the family in awhile because I have been so busy. With my family and my calling, I haven't had a chance to sit down and type without being interrupted every minute or so. So we haven't had much going on lately. I have been busy potty training Dallin for the last 2 weeks. He is doing very well, we are pleased with his progress. Elise has kept us busy with her teething woes. She now has 3 teeth completely in(two bottom and one top). She is so sweet, but so sad when she is teething. We made this "Seeley Tree of Thanks" for FHE. It is so fun to see the things Dallin comes up with that he is thankful for. We have done this for several years now and it is fun to see how our lives evolved.
On Wednesday night my mom's work invited our family to a party they had to watch fireworks at Longview lake. We had fun visiting and eating way too much pizza and yummy desserts.
Thanksgiving came so fast. In the morning, a bunch of us girls did a 5K Family Jog/Stroll. It was a blast. Unfortunately, I trained only 1 day, so I was terrified. But there was over 5,000 people there with kids and stroller so it was a very casual thing. I did jog quite a bit of the race finishing with Katie right at 40 minutes. We were so excited to have finished in a decent time. While I was out having fun with the girls, Jon was at home working hard on Thanksgiving. He made white and wheat rolls, his family's cornbread stuffing, and sweet potatoes. (I made a yummy coconut cream pie the night before.) I really appreciate all he does for me, letting me leave on Thanksgiving to do this with friends and family. He is such a wonderful husband.

Black Friday

I am and have been for as long as I can remember a die hard "Black Friday" shopper. Jon thinks I am nuts, but I love getting up way to early to go to overcrowded stores to get a few discounted items. (This year it seems that stores are opening at 4am, maybe I just won't go to sleep!) It just doesn't feel like Christmas shopping if I didn't go. I found this preview of "Black Friday" sales that I wanted to share. I can't confirm the validate of them, but it doesn't hurt to check it out. http://blackfridayhcw.blogspot.com/

Thanksgiving Funnies

A lesson in locking your car doors.

A week or two ago Jon and I took the kids out for some Saturday errands and I needed to make a quick stop at the post office. So we pulled up and I jumped out with my package to mail. Apparently while I was inside a little old lady came up to the car, opened the door and sat in the passenger seat. Jon just sat there in shock with his jaw open I am sure. So he kindly said something to her to get her attention and she jumped out of the car and into the one next to us (which by the way her car didn't look anything like our car). When I got back Jon told me about what had happened and said from now on he will lock the car door when I leave. I have been a little crazy about this which I am sure I have Vegas to thank, but at least I have never had any visitors yet.

Keep the CHANGE

I was blog hopping today, and I ran across this and thought it was so perfect.
So I wanted to share it. And I loved this quote:
"I'll keep my freedom, my guns, and my money. . .you can keep THE CHANGE."

Picture Tag

I was tagged by Melanie to show my 4th picture in my 4th file. Mine goes a little deeper than that, so I did the 4th file, 4th file, 4th picture. And it appropriately is Elise at 4 months! 4 people that I tag: Heather Davis, Amy Schwartz, Shay Pruett, and Sarah Peterson. (That's right Sarah, YOU have been Tagged!)

Gas Update

Last night on my way home from mutual I filled up Jon's car with gas and I was thrilled that the price had lowering again. Gas prices are $1.72 here in the Kansas City, Missouri area. What are prices where you live?

One Small Victory!

I know this is not a huge deal to the general public, but to those that know me will know that this is HUGE for me. I got my flu shot yesterday, ALONE! No supports, no one to catch me when I faint, no word of encouragement. No one! Okay, let me back up. For most of my life I have had horrible needle phobia. The thought of needles just sends shivers down my spine and makes me extremely lightheaded. I used to turn white as a ghost and start to sweat up a storm and on occasion pass out, but thanks to my Hypnobirthing classes, I have learned to calm myself down and focus on my breathing and make it through it. I don't know why I have this fear, I know it doesn't really hurt, it is just the idea of a needle going into my body. (I just got the chills.) But since I got pregnant with Dallin I haven't fainted or needed Valium. (And no I did not get an epidural for either of my children, I did it all natural.) And yesterday for the first time in my life, I went and got a shot alone and I didn't cry or faint or anything. I was so happy. I feel like this is a new day for me. It is definitely one small victory for me!!! Maybe someday I will be able to donate blood... I'll just take it one shot at a time for now.

Good Reads

Here is a news story that I had to share. It is from the L.A. Times regarding the LDS church and Prop. 8. You have to read it!

Huge Disappointment!!

I am SO bummed (to put it nicely) that Obama won! After all the horrible things that have surfaced about him and he still became our president???!!! I am ashamed of the uninformed, ignorant population. If you voted for Obama, I don't even want to hear about it! But if you did, I hope that you know that you voted for someone who is going to destroy the family unit, destroy freedom of speech, destroy the rights of an unborn child, and someone who is going to push legislation that will open the door for more Virginia Tech style tragedies. Just to name a few. So, yes I am bitter! I can't wait for 2012!!!

Halloween

I have to start with, we got gas on Saturday for $1.87!! How awesome is that?!! Elise is so cute. She sits at the door and peeks out this window waiting for someone to rescue her from the insanity.. Just kidding, she usually is looking to see if my dad is coming to visit.
Elise was the cutest ballerina ever!! She actually didn't mind the tutu at all.

I know that this isn't exactly a flattering picture of her, but you can see her first tooth. She just got in last Monday.
Elise only lasted for about 10 minutes of trick or treating and then she was ready for bed.

Dallin was the most handsome SuperWhy! Jon's mom did an amazing job, as always, on his costume. (See below for actual SuperWhy) He actually refused to put the costume on until Halloween night, but once it went on we couldn't get it off him. He wore it to bed and then wore the shirt the next day. I refused to let him wear it to church, so we had to convince him to wash it. And only one little girl knew who he was. It was kind of sad that more people in my neighborhood don't take advantage of FREE TV- gosh, it's on PBS!!

He even wore his mask all night. He had SO much fun. I don't know if I have ever seen him have that much fun before. He was so polite and sweet. Every house he went to he would say, "Trick or Treat, I'm SuperWhy." I think he got used to telling everyone. He didn't want to stop, but his cousins needed to go so we went home. It was such a great night!

Here are all the kids: Indiana Jones (Owen), Harry Potter (Cole), Elise, and SuperWhy (Dallin)
The Family
Our neighborhood was so fun of kids. It was so crazy all the kids that came here from other areas. Jon says, "They were busing kids in here like Democrats on election day." So, so true!

Political Funnies

I don't really like to talk politics much, but this should sum it all up:
YES we are voting for McCAIN.
