I wanted to update everyone on Dallin's recovery. He is doing well. Actually amazingly well. After we got home from the hospital it was really rough. Trying to get him to drink enough water (1 oz. per hour) and convincing him to take yucky medicine every 4 hours. It wasn't fun at all, but he was really good about drinking and EATING! He ate every meal, not much, but enough. The doctor expected us to be at the ER at least once for fluids, and we never had to go. And the nurse told me she expected a couple of phone calls, but we didn't have to call even. He was such a trooper. It wasn't easy by far, but he just worked through it. He hasn't been a big cry baby; he has actually been in a pretty good mood. As long as he wasn't due for pain medicine he was fine. That medicine was like a miracle. You could honest tell the minute he needed it and the minute it started working.
I took him for a check up yesterday and the doctor seemed impressed at how well he did and the way he is healing. He now has to learn how to swallow all over again. Apparently he was swallowing food whole because it was too much effort to chew and breath at the same time so now with the scabs and sores he can't do that anymore. Thank goodness my parents have been here the whole time helping me. I don't think I would be sane if they were here to help. And Elise would have been pretty neglected at times. So thanks mom and dad!

Yea. I'm so glad that the recovery is going well. What a tough kid. It's great that your parents could be there. Hooray for family!
It's always so hard to watch the little ones go through stuff, but it's amazing how our normally whiny kids can rise to the occasion when the chips are really down.
How rough to have to have surgrey when your so little and dont understand it all! What a trooper though. It's great that your parents could be there to help.
