A Chance for Children 5K

Our anxious before shot.
Smiling at the start!
Very happy aftershot!

My friend, Lisa, and I decided it was time for another 5K. I really love doing 5K's but even more, I love doing them when they are for a good cause. And this one was no acceptation. It benefited children with cancer at KU Medical hospital. The day was absolutely perfect weather (low 70's) and the run was GORGEOUS. It was in Corporate wood which is just a bunch of street that go from one huge building to another covered in the most beautiful green trees I have ever seen. It was a pretty flat run with few small hills. We got there right before they started (lucky us!) and we got our MP3 players ready and we ran. This race is our first to have a timing chip on, so that added an element of excitement (although I was wearing my new heart rate monitor Jon bought me that had a timer). There were tons of sponsors for this race too. After we ran there was bagels from Panera, egg sandwiches and breakfast burritos from McDonalds, Chick-fil-A samples, granola bars, fruit, milk, gatorade, and a massage guy. It was a ton of fun! I will definitely do this race again. And... I achieved my personal best time of 28 minutes 11 seconds for the 3.1 miles! I was so surprised by my time; I was shooting for 30 minutes. I was extremely happy with my run. And I did 9 minute miles! How exciting is that?! I shaved 5 minutes off form my last race! Here are my stats that they sent out:

"There were 40 finishers in the Female 26 to 30 age group and 211 finishers in the race. Your overall finish place was 70 and your age group finish place was 13. Your time of 28:11.6 gave you a 9:05 pace per mile. "

Craft time

Thanks to my friend, Shays comment, I realized I forgot to blog about my latest crafts. There are so few, I guess they just slip by. I did these great vinyl crafts at church and I love them. They turned out so nice. The middle one has been edited for privacy purposes, it has our last name and then "Families are Forever"across it..

These are silhouettes of my kids. I saw them on Nie Nie's blog and loved them and then I found a step by step how to make them on this blog. So I decided to try it out. It was super easy and I think they are really cute. Even though Dallin completely disagrees. He tells me to flip them over to the "pretty" side... So funny!

A New Calling and Cute Kids

I really love being in Young Women's, but boy is it time consuming. I never imagined how much time and work it would take being the 1st counselor. After a year in my last ward and then another year and a half in this ward my time was up. Last Sunday I was released and called to be the 2nd counselor in Primary. I am nervous because I have never served in Primary but I am up for the challenge. And I know that the Lord put me there for a reason.
Enough about me....lets add some cute kid pictures for good measure.
Bucket head Dallin!
Train them while they are young! She watches Dallin and wants to help too!!!
Do you know why Elise is so happy??

Because she snagged herself herself a coke!

And then Mommy took it away... :(

Mommy Dallin Date

Dallin and I don't get much one on one time these days. With my busy calling and Jon's busy work schedule it just never seems to work out. But since my parents are staying with us and my dad is home all day, I was able to get out with Dallin on Tuesday. I found this AWESOME gym where they had a rock wall, rope swing, foam pit, in ground trampolines, mazes, slides, zip line, obstacle courses, balance beams, etc. He was IN HEAVEN. It was parent tot time (so just smaller kids) and it only lasted an hour, but he seriously had a smile plastered to his face the entire time. It was so fun to see him have SO much fun! I loved it and for $5 it was the best spent money I have ever spent. We will definitely be back. Afterwards I took him to Mimi's Cafe for some chocolate chip pancakes. It was by far the best date I have ever been on. :)

We love when cousins come to town!!!

Last month Katie brought Ava down to visit and Dallin was in heaven. Those two are inseparable and unstopable. Hence, the one and only picture I got of them. They are so cute together. Last weekend Jon's sister Rachel and her family came through on their way to D.C. We are SO glad they decided to come our way and stop. We had so much fun with them. I think Jon and Rachel could have talked all day and all night. It has been too long between visits; over 3 years actually. Dallin and Ben are so similar it was fun to get to know him better. And the girls are so tall and so sweet. Thanks again for stopping! We had SO much fun chatting and hanging out with you guys!
4 out of the 6 siblings. (Dan, Rachel, Jon, and Katie)
Elise found a game the big kids left and took over.

Ben was too cute!

Emma and Anna are such sweet girls!
This was night 1. Apparently my husband took this picture. I had taken Elise home to sleep (my parents were there) and Dallin and I feel asleep on the chair while Jon chatted away.

Night Out

A week ago we had our town's "Night Out" at the park right down the street. We decided to go since there would be free food and stuff for the kids to do. Although it was a bit warm, we went ahead and loaded the kids in the double jog stroller and walked over. Both kids were pretty quiet during our walk. When we got there I got into line for some food and I asked Dallin if he wanted a hot dog. He politely declined and then I went to ask him if he wanted something else and he was asleep. I really thought he was just teasing me, but nope he was OUT!!! I couldn't believe my eyes. He had been looking forward to going all day. They had firetrucks, police cars, a huge army helicopter, among a bunch of free kids stuff. Poor kid.... But Elise had a blast! She LOVED the constant attention for both Jon and I. It was a lot of fun. Maybe next year Dallin will stay awake for the whole thing... They had a bunch of cool cars to show off. This is Jon's dream car...
Here is my sweet daughter in the back of a police car.
I hope I never see you back there again young lady!!
