I know I'm late, But Happy Father's Day!

I planned to post this right after Father's Day, but things have been kind of crazy. So I decided to go ahead and post it anyway. Happy Father's Day all the Dads out there! Especially my husband who is the best Dad ever!
For Father's Day I got Jon some BBQ accessories: Spatula, Tool holder, and a new grill surface with hinging sides to simplify adding charcoal during cooking. I really wanted to do something for him too though. I LOVE giving gifts, but I really wanted to do something sweet for him this year. So I decided to mow both the front and back lawn for him. Okay, before you think, how lame, remember we live in Missouri, not Vegas. We actually have a lawn to mow and we have a reel mower (AKA No engine, No gas). It isn't very wide either so you have to make A LOT of laps to get it looking nice. It took me a good hour for the front and sides and 2 hours for the back. What a work out! It isn't super hard, but after a while it gets your arms burning. Jon was outside most of the time with me smoking the BEST pork I have every eaten. He let me borrow his MP3 player while I mowed so it wouldn't be so boring, but he got a bit embarrassed when I started dancing and singing out loud. He kept saying that the neighbors would hear me and blah blah blah, but ummm they already think we are strange for using a reel mower. So I probably won't be asked to mow the lawn anytime soon for that reason. But I thought it looked pretty nice. Sarah and I also went and got some pictures taken of the kids. Sadly this is the first time I have ever done formal pictures with Dallin who is 2 1/2, so it was really over due. They turned out really cute. We had them taken, printed, and framed for our husbands. They were pleasantly surprised. Jon was even more excited when I told him that it only cost $20 (Well that was with a $10 tip included). Not bad for 2 1/2 hours of crying kids, 50 pictures, and 3 wardrobe changes. I thought she did great; Dallin was having a really bad day. And before the Grandmas email me the pictures they want, I will be sending out a CD of all the pictures very soon.

Let the fun begin!

Dallin's surgery stayed at the 1pm time which meant he couldn't eat after 7am and couldn't drink any liquids after 10am. So we woke him up at 5:30am to get him to Cracker Barrel by 6am. That was exciting! We got to the hospital around noon and they took him back for surgery at 1pm. He did so great! We expected him to scream and cry but he just laid down and went with the nurse. They even talked to us about giving him a sedative, but he didn't need it. They said the actual surgery takes about 20 minutes and then he would be in recovery for up to an hour. So after they told us everything went well, I sent Jon to get us lunch. We were both pretty hungry since we hadn't eaten since breakfast. We didn't want to eat in front of him. So Jon left and I was just about to go to the gift shop when there comes Dallin out of recovery. He was only in there for 15-20 minutes. He was crying but just about the IV. He wasn't happy about that being in his hand. But he calmed right down and was so good. He drank water right away. They checked on him every 2 hours and gave him antibiotics every 8 hours and pain medication every 4 hours. He does really great up 'til 30 minutes before his next dose. He really is such a strong little boy. Jon and I both spent the night at the hospital with him, so we are all 3 pretty tired. My parents were really sweet to take Elise all day yesterday and all night. Dallin ate some pancake for breakfast and had chocolate milk. He has tried lots of different foods, he just has a hard time swallowing them down. But all and all we are so proud of him for being so strong. We had to wait 4 extra hours at the hospital to be released because they couldn't get ahold of our doctor and that was just so annoying. But we are home now and everything is going really well. Thank you to everyone who has been thinking and praying about him. We appreciate your love and support.

Updated Update

So it looks like we are on for Friday at 1pm, but the nurse is trying to move it up to 7:30am because they don't want him to eat for like 6 or 7 hours prior to surgery and it would be a whole lot easier if he was sleeping than awake hungry until surgery.

Tonsils Update...

Well, thanks to crazy insurance issues we had put Dallin's Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy on temporary hold. On Monday afternoon the doctor's office called me to let me know that our current insurance company needed a "Certificate of Creditable Coverage" from our last insurance company to show that we were covered for the last year so there was no issues with any pre-existing clauses. So I started making phone calls and 2 hours later I ended up having to cancel his surgery for Tuesday because our last insurance company told me it would take 7-10 days to process 1 piece of paper! So I called and pleaded with them to make it a priority. So apparently the lady had some sympathy for a tired mom and they sent it today. So now I am working on getting the form to our new insurance company and convincing them to process it today so I can schedule the surgery for Friday. I will keep everyone updated when I know more. Thank you to everyone who have send emails of support and concern. I really appreciate it.

My witty 2 year old...

The other day I asked Dallin, “Who made you smart?” and he said “Daddy!” So I asked him, “Who made you pretty?” thinking I had him with that one. And once again he said, “Daddy!” I asked him, “So if Daddy made you smart and Daddy made you pretty what did Mommy give you?” He said, “Trouble.” What a turkey!

Lately Dallin has had this fascination with putting things in a row. He puts his cars in rows, rocks, toys, books, just about anything he gets his hands on. This isn't the best example, but you get the idea.

Dallin has had such a hard time sleeping that he falls asleep sort of randomly and when he does he prefers hard surfaces. This doesn't look really comfortable but he slept like this for awhile.

Elise loves her Exersaucer! When she gets in it, she goes wild.Elise loves to grab her toes. She has mastered grabbing toys too. She is getting better at sitting up by herself. She now weighs 13 lbs. 12 ounces. She is in the 60 percentile! Can you believe it! And now that she is 4 months our doctor told us that we can now give her a little rice cereal. So, here she is eating for the first time. She did really well!

Ducks, Garden Update, and a Broken Toe!

Yeah, I know how random.

I know that ducks are supposed to be cute little things, but I am so not a fan at the moment. We have these 2 ducks that live in our neighborhood fishing pond that somehow make there way over to our yard and hang out in our side yard where our neighbors sump pumps water out and makes it a swamp land. They were over there for hours the other day digging up the grass eating bugs. I went out to get these pictures and of course they chased me around the house. So the next day I saw them on my front porch looking in our front windows. I didn't think much of it until I had the Young Women's presidency coming over for a meeting and there was 3 places where the ducks pooped, including my front door mat! Now it's war!
I wanted to update everyone on our garden. It is doing quite well. We have had some huge rainstorms lately and it seems to double the next day. We actually used some lettuce on Monday for dinner when we had the missionaries over.

Can you believe it, this is the first time I have ever mowed a lawn! What can I say, I have 2 brothers I never had to do the lawn.

Have you earned your "carbon credits" this week??

So I have been CRAZY busy since I was called as Young Women's 1st Counselor and I have been feeling extremely overwhelmed. Here is a little insight into what I mean: I had to teach on Sunday, they randomly asked us to bear our testimonies in sacrament meeting, I had to give the spiritual thought somewhat at the last minute in young women's, I had a meeting on Monday morning at which I had to do another spiritual thought, I had the missionaries over for dinner Monday which is when I broke one of my toes. I thought I just stubbed it really bad, but when it turned purple all the way around, I accepted that it was broken. So I have had to take it easy, darn. But the week had to go on. So Tuesday we took Dallin to a Pediatric Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor and we scheduled for him to have his tonsils and adenoids out next Tuesday. We are not looking forward to that at all, but he sleep apnea, so he never sleeps well and he has a really hard time all day from being tired all the time. So since he is so small and young we have to spend one night at the hospital. I will post about that next week. I have accepted that I have to just take it one day at a time....
