Let the fun begin!

Dallin's surgery stayed at the 1pm time which meant he couldn't eat after 7am and couldn't drink any liquids after 10am. So we woke him up at 5:30am to get him to Cracker Barrel by 6am. That was exciting! We got to the hospital around noon and they took him back for surgery at 1pm. He did so great! We expected him to scream and cry but he just laid down and went with the nurse. They even talked to us about giving him a sedative, but he didn't need it. They said the actual surgery takes about 20 minutes and then he would be in recovery for up to an hour. So after they told us everything went well, I sent Jon to get us lunch. We were both pretty hungry since we hadn't eaten since breakfast. We didn't want to eat in front of him. So Jon left and I was just about to go to the gift shop when there comes Dallin out of recovery. He was only in there for 15-20 minutes. He was crying but just about the IV. He wasn't happy about that being in his hand. But he calmed right down and was so good. He drank water right away. They checked on him every 2 hours and gave him antibiotics every 8 hours and pain medication every 4 hours. He does really great up 'til 30 minutes before his next dose. He really is such a strong little boy. Jon and I both spent the night at the hospital with him, so we are all 3 pretty tired. My parents were really sweet to take Elise all day yesterday and all night. Dallin ate some pancake for breakfast and had chocolate milk. He has tried lots of different foods, he just has a hard time swallowing them down. But all and all we are so proud of him for being so strong. We had to wait 4 extra hours at the hospital to be released because they couldn't get ahold of our doctor and that was just so annoying. But we are home now and everything is going really well. Thank you to everyone who has been thinking and praying about him. We appreciate your love and support.

What a tough kid! It would be so hard to watch your kid in that kind of situation. . We're so glad it was able to happen yesterday and that everything went well.

I'm glad things went so well for him. That's great! Let me know when he's feeling up to it and I'll bring the boys over. They'd like to bring him something.
