My Newest Find!

I have always wanted new dining room chairs since we only have 4 that match and they were hand me downs. But being frugal, we made it work. Until my silly neighbor set out 6 BEAUTIFUL matching chairs on trash days and they were calling to me! I had my dad snatch them all before the trash man came. (They are MY neighbors so yes, I had my dad do my dirty work.) All they needed was a quick wipe down and now we have 6 BEAUTIFUL dining room chairs. I love them! Can you believe that someone was going to trash these?

Easter 2010

We have a fun Easter. We did an egg hunt the Saturday before at the park down the street and the kids got tons of candy. Then the night before we dyed the eggs and the kids went to bed early :). The kids got some toys and the family got a basket of candy. Elise was so excited about her new coloring book that she grabbed it and got to work.

Busy Busy

For the last 2 months we have been NON-Stop busy! It has been a crazy time for us. Jon has been campaigning every Saturday all day and almost every day I went out for 2 hours and put flyers on doors. We did a lot of talking, smiling, shaking hands, and putting signs out. On Election day we sat at our polling place for 12 straight hours greeting people and giving out homemade cookies. Jon's competition was a lifelong Raymore resident who is in her 80's and has several streets named after her and her family. Jon did such a great job and I am so proud of him. After all was said and done he lost by 7 votes (He got 356 votes and she got 363, less than 1%)! This was the BEST turn out in our area for a really really long time. It was really hard to swallow how close he got, but it was such a huge accomplishment for him to get so close to winning. Noone else has ever come that close to beating out the current councilwoman. Good job Jon! I'm so proud of you! You stuck to your beliefs and you were an honest candidate!

Food for Haiti

The Salvation Army had a huge center downtown Kansas City to package food for Haiti and I really wanted to take the kids and go.. so my friend and I did just that! It was so good for them and they did such a great job! I was stationed at the sealer, which wasn't easy to do alone. Dallin was such a great help for me! I was so proud of Dallin he worked for 2 straight hours without a single complaint! I love that boy! Elise on the other hand didn't want to help do the food, so they let her "decorate" boxes. It was too cute!

Grab Bag

Since it has been so long, I have so much random stuff to post. So this post is a grab bag of happenings.
I have loved making Elise bows, but I needed somewhere to put them all. They were getting squashed in her box and holders were too expensive. So $2 later, I made this....
I love it! (Sarah, I have been meaning to email you this forever!)

Elise moved to a big girl bed right after in birthday in January and at first it was scary (for me) but she has been doing great! She stays in her room and bed all night and sings to herself in the morning to let us know she is awake. Such a wonderful child! I love her so much!
These two are inseparable! Love it!
At the end of February it felt like we living in a freezer! It was so cold and icy! Everything looked like it was made out of glass. It was really pretty, but SO cold!
This was the first day of Spring! Where are the flowers and birds??
This picture just cracks me up! She thought this one up all by herself!
Oreo truffles I made for a young women's dessert auction. They were SO good!
Here is some random cuteness:
I love my big girl! She is seriously getting too big!
Mommy and Elise
Such a handsome boy!
She is going to break hearts when she is older!
BLACKMAIL:
Dallin is SUCH a good brother! He loves to lay in Elise's bed and read to her. Jon thought this was too funny though!

Happy 70th Birthday Dad!

Wow- I am WAY behind on my blogging. We have been SO busy, but I will get to that later.
In February my dad turned 70! I can't even believe it. He does NOT act or look like a 70 year old. We did a simple dinner and German chocolate cake (his favorite!) and ice cream for him since he was leaving the next day for Vegas. He is such a great dad and grandpa! We are SO lucky to have him!
